Thomas C. "Tom" Heverly, 73, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born on September 9, 1951, in Lock Haven, the son of the late Benjamin H. Heverly and Loretta J. (Lingle) Confer of Lock Haven. On January 13, 1973, in Pleasant Gap, he married Debra L. Hazel, who survives him at home.
Tom was a 1969 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He worked at Corning Glass in State College until 1979, when he ventured into entrepreneurship, founding Thomas Heverly Construction. After 24 years of owning his business, he transitioned to a sales position at Arrow Concrete, where he worked until his retirement in 2020.
A man who loved to tinker, Tom was always taking things apart, claiming he could make them better. While his projects often had spare parts left over, his curiosity and creativity were boundless. Tom also enjoyed horseback riding, tending to his yard and barn, and spending time with his family. Every morning, he and Debra would share a cup of coffee and devotionals. If they couldn't make it in the morning, they would spend the time together in the afternoon. A member of Brookside Wesleyan Church, Tom's strong Christian faith was central to his life. His passion for helping others lead him to participate in several missions' trips including overseas, across the United States as well as locally.
Tom had a deep passion for sports, particularly football and wrestling. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and was their most enthusiastic cheerleader. Above all, Tom cherished his time with family and adored his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Debra, Tom is survived by his mother, Loretta J. Confer; two daughters, Megan J. Raup and her husband, Hunter, of Bellefonte, and Vanessa C. Billett and her husband, Shane, of Bellefonte; and seven grandchildren: Savanna Billett, Haddi Heverly, Gage Catherman, Noah Catherman, Jhett Catherman, Chase Catherman, and Maci Raup. He is also survived by three brothers: Gary Heverly, Sr. and his wife, Carmen, of Milesburg; Richard Heverly of Martinsburg; and Carl Heverly of Mt. Eagle, as well as one sister, Patricia Dorman of Bellefonte. In addition to his father, Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Brown.
There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date and announced accordingly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Wesleyan Church, 403 Bush Hollow Rd, Julian, PA 16844.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. in Milesburg, PA. An online guestbook is available, where you can share your condolences with the family at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.
