Thomas E. McGinnis, 80, of West Lafayette, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at IU Health Arnett Hospital. He was born December 4, 1944, in Crawfordsville, IN, to the late Wilbert and Kathlyn (Gay) McGinnis.
Tom attended Southwestern High School and served 4 years in the Marine Corps, including time spent in Vietnam.
On January 29, 1968, he married Patricia Wall in Green Hill, IN and she survives. Tom was a firefighter with the Purdue University Fire Department for 31 years. After retiring, he worked 8 years with the Pesticide Residue Lab of the Indiana State Chemist Office. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
Surviving along with his wife are his children Drake E. (Sheli) McGinnis of Otterbein, Felicia M. (Larry) King of Russiaville, IN, Heather L. (Jonathan Duzan) McGinnis of Grandview, IL., grandchildren Patricia R. Schumacher, Jacob T. King, Colton R. McGinnis, Drake A. McGinnis, great grandchildren Aidan R. Stagner, Hazel M. King, Gabriel T. King, Gideon R. King, Rigley E. King and Alannah G. McGinnis. Tom was preceded in death by his sisters LaDonna M. Chapman and Arlene J. Church.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Interment will be at Battle Ground Cemetery in Battle Ground, IN.

Patti what a long journey for you and Tom. I thought of you so often while I traveled that road with Bill. I pray they are enjoying what Christ promised us all who believe. Take care and call me to go to lunch sometime. Lynn Rihn
