Thomas "Tommy" Edwin Patrick, 72, of Houston, passed away May 26th. He was born November 20th, 1952, in El Paso, Texas to the late Thomas Bowen Patrick and Dorothy Lee (Goodman) Patrick.
Tom was a very active kid – always busy doing something, whether it was trying to catch crawfish in the drainage ditch behind the house, building a 3-story fort in the back yard out of scrap lumber, creating a tunnel system in the back yard, or exploring the bayous of southern Louisiana.
As a teenager he discovered his musical talent and played the bass guitar for many years, starting with Rock and ending with Jazz. No lessons – played entirely by ear and was amazing.
As evident from his childhood he loved the outdoors, with hunting, fishing, and raising a garden being some of his favorite activities. He loved traveling, using Eurail to travel throughout Europe (when he was younger) to doing ocean and river cruising in more recent years.
Like most people, Tom could be a challenge at times, but his bluster hid one of the biggest hearts possible. Like his Dad, he had a wicked sense of humor and made us laugh.
Tom achieved a BS in Radio-Television-Film and a Master in Professional Accounting from University of Texas, followed by his CPA license. He worked for Citation Oil and Gas for 30 years, rising to the level of VP of Tax prior to his retirement at the end of 2023.
He is survived by his wife, Marilynne Patrick; his sisters, Kathy Lenz and Pat Garrett; brother, Edwin Patrick; and his stepmother, Valerie Patrick, plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Including his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Patrick.
A celebration of life honoring both Tom and his Father (Thomas B. Patrick) will be announced at a future date.
