Tia Marie Hebert, age 64, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2025. Born on May 15, 1960, in Newport, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Moniz) Farias.
Tia was a cherished resident of her community, known for her warmth and kindness. She dedicated herself to her family as a loving mother and grandmother, with a special bond with her grandson, George Giannakakos II, who was truly the light of her life.
Tia was a graduate of Portsmouth High School Class of 1978. For nearly two decades Tia worked at Dunkin' Donuts in Portsmouth. Then went on to work at Chili's Bar and Grill in Middletown for nearly 15 Years. Her latest job, which she loved, was as a bus monitor for the Portsmouth School District, where she made countless connections with the children and families she served. Tia loved to spend her time outside whether it was in the garden admiring the beauty of her plants or feeding the birds and squirrels, that was a happy place for her.
Her caring nature extended beyond her professional life, as she was always there for her loved ones, and her infectious spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved daughter; Brittany Faucher and fiance George Giannakakos of Tiverton, her beloved grandson George Giannakakos II of Tiverton and her siblings, Michael Farias, of Portsmouth, George Farias and wife Paula Farias of CT, and Cheryl Farias of Newport. A nephew Steven Farias of Newport, Niece Morgan Farias of CT and many more great nieces & nephews. Tia's legacy of love and compassion will live on through her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday May 17, 2025, at 9:00 am in St. Barnabas Church in 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to a charity your choosing, or to The Robert Potter L:eague for Animals 87 Oliphant Lane Middletown, RI 02842.
