May 8th 1957- February 15, 2023
Aged 65
Timothy Wayne Poffenberger passed away due to lung cancer at his home in Fair Oaks,
California surrounded by loved ones. Tim was born in Sacramento, CA on May 8, 1957 to Mary
Ann Lester and Robert Karl Poffenberger. He had two siblings: his brother Thomas Alan, who
preceded him in death, and sister Pamela Faith, who lives in Forest Hill with her husband,
Victor.
Tim was all boy growing up in the Placer area, enjoying all the sports and outdoors he could. He
attended and graduated Del Oro High School before enlisting in the United States Marine
Corps. Tim honorably served his country as a Marine from 1975 to 1979.
He loved children and had his first, a son, Joshua Robert, in 1986 and a daughter, Emily Anne,
in 1988. Tim married the love of his life, Ann Louise, in 1998 and gained two more daughters,
Shawna Kristine Louise Malvini and Brenda Lynn Malvini.
An avid outdoorsman, nothing energized Tim more than telling a story of an epic catch on a Nor
Cal lake or bird hunting with his prized yellow labs. When he wasn't hunting or fishing, or
dreaming of hunting and fishing, he tended his menagerie of animals, which over the years
included tropical fish, bearded dragons, chameleons, tortoises, and most recently, "squish
faces" (pugs and Frenchies). He loved the Raiders almost as much as the Dodgers. And you
can tell, because he convinced Ann to paint the double front doors of their home Dodger blue.
Somewhat of a magpie, Tim enjoyed collecting vintage signs, glassware, interesting artwork,
Raider everything, sci-fi memorabilia, and in recent years, cultural artifacts for prayer and
meditation. You could usually find him watching the History channel or tinkering in the yard. He
had a knack for growing things and cultivated a backyard oasis that he enjoyed with Ann, and
his brother-in-law Eric John, whom he helped care for.
Tim's most sincere and proud accomplishment was becoming a grandfather to four
grandchildren: Adelynn Rose Klahn, Austin Josef Klahn, Alanah Rae Klahn, and Magnolia May
Hidalgo Poffenberger. He loved all children, except for sticky-hands, and was especially great at
keeping babies happy.
Tim lived a gregarious and passionate life. He treated friends and neighbors as family, and
never met a stranger. In his adult years, Tim's greatest joy was hosting friends and family in his
home to share a meal, where you'd most likely find him grilling and telling stories. He especially
loved to talk about his travels to Italy with Ann, and all of the wonderful food they shared. His
children would remind you to never bring up the sandwich story though.
A loving father, husband, grandpa, brother, and friend, Tim is deeply missed.

I met Tim while at Del Oro High. He was one of the only "Jocks" who hung out with us "Aggies". Tim was a great guy and I sincerely enjoyed the times we had together in what were arguably our best years! I´m proud of his service to our country and to have known him.

Tim lived life with no regrets. He loved his family and friends. Although Tim and I lost connection for a while, he was always in my thoughts. In high school he would love to come over and have some Mexican food my mom would cook, the guy could eat. He was my friend, my brother. I'm so grateful we reconnected before your passing. You will always be in my thoughts. Ann, Pam, Josh, and Emily my heart goes out to you. I know the pain I feel I can't imagine your's. He was a great man. Pam tells me to keep smiling that Tim would want that. So I'm smiling Tim. Love and miss you brother.

Tim and I went all four years at Del Oro. We won a championship in JV football. You really didn't want to get hit by Tim ! Honest straight shooter with a good heart. If he said he would do something, it was done! Heck of a good man . You will be missed.
