Ms. Theresa Marie Wampler Poffenberger, 64, of Hagerstown, died suddenly early Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in Hagerstown.
Born March 3, 1960, in Washington, District of Columbia, she was a daughter of Marie Bernadette Beavers Wampler of Hagerstown, and the late William Freeman Wampler
Theresa had worked with for the Herald Mail for nearly 30 years as a contract hauler. Additionally, she had worked with Cumberland Valley Veterinary Clinic, Krispy Kreme Donuts and Wesel Blvd AC&T, all of Hagerstown. She was also a housekeeper and care giver for the elderly and disabled.
Theresa was baptized into the Catholic Faith.
She was devoted to animals; an attribute that never wavered even as her health became poor. Theresa actively fed stray cat colonies around Washington County, and participated in trap-neuter-release programs to help quell the populations.
Surviving, besides her mother, are her children Rachael Poffenberger of Friendship, Stacey Keener of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, and Keller Poffenberger; four grandchildren; and siblings, Dianna, Bea and Frank Wampler, all of Hagerstown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, assisted the family with arrangements. Private services were at the convenience of the family.
