Timothy "Tim" Tjader, age 77, a resident of Siren, WI., passed away on December 16, 2024 at home with his loved ones by his side. Tim Tjader was born in Siren, WI., on Nov. 12, 1947, to William and Elaine Tjader. He attended Siren School, graduating in 1966. He was very active in sports, excelling in basketball and football.
Following graduation, he went to Brown Institute and then enlisted in the Army, serving from March 5th, 1968 to October 11, 1969. He served as a MacV radio operator in Vietnam. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, along with other badges. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Tim worked for FC Hayer in Minneapolis.
On July 1, 1972, Tim married his high school sweetheart, Donna Ellis. They had three children, Ryan, Bethany and Reid and later welcomed three granddaughters into the family.
They moved to Eau Claire, WI in 1974 so Tim could attend Chippewa Valley Technical College, where he graduated with a degree in Civil Structural Engineering. Deciding that a desk job was not for him, Tim worked for Tjader Highstrom Utility Contractors in New Richmond for a few years. In 1978 they moved back home to Siren where Tim found odd jobs building various items and soon the word got out that he was an exceptional carpenter. This began his lifelong career as a home builder. Health issues caused him to retire early.
Tim was active in his community, proudly serving almost 16 years as a Veterans Liaison for the Health and Human Services Committee. He also was in the Legion for 43 years, where he was commander and then treasurer. He was active in the Siren Athletic Association, coaching 3rd to 6th grade basketball for many years. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Siren.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, William and Elaine and three brothers, Mike, Steven (Pete), and Dennis (Barney).
He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Ryan (Katie) and Reid and daughter, Bethany (Jeff). He was a proud Papa to Norah, Ruby and Vivian. He is also survived by his step granddaughter, Iris; brother, Paul; several nieces, nephews, a host of special cousins and many friends.
Tim's celebration of life will take place on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 4:00 PM with visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church in Siren, WI with Pastor Emily Stelling officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Jeff Hegarty, Doug Ellis, Roger Skold, Jim Anderson, Jerry Larsen, Bob Skold, John Anderson and Ernie Lyga. Military Honors will be held at the end of the service conducted by Post 1256.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society or Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. This is where Tim will be laid to rest at a private family service.
Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at www.swedberg-taylor.com.
