Todd Clark, 59, of Urbandale, passed away after a short, but courageous, battle with stage IV melanoma at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Thursday, April, 13, 2023.
Todd was born on June 27, 1963 to Paul and Sheryl (Knust) Clark. He graduated from Martensdale St. Marys High School and later Iowa State University in 1985 with a degree in Ag Education. He worked for the State of Iowa from 2005 to 2022 as a Data Base Architect, retiring in December of 2022.
Todd was well loved by all who knew him. He loved to work with animals at the ARL and had won an award for his dedication of his volunteer efforts. At the ARL, he was known as the "cat whisperer" for his gentle and caring nature of the cats. Todd was fascinated by computers and the inner workings of watches and clocks. He was an expert in his career and knew all the tips and tricks around his computer.
Keeping track of the stock market and genealogy were some fun hobbies of Todd's. He always said if he didn't get into computers or needed another career, he would become a financial analyst working as a day trader. He enjoyed driving his car and riding his motorcycle, sometimes a little too fast. Todd was a private individual, but for the few who knew him remember him to be a kind, caring and overall nice individual. He took pride in caring for his family who was an important part of his life. Todd was very loved by his friends and family.
Todd was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Hazel Clark; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Othella Knust; and brothers, Michael and Richard Smith.
He is survived by his parents, Paul (Carole) Clark and Sheryl Jones; sisters, Tonja Clark and Shawna (Walter) Gongora; uncle, Arlen Knust; niece, Jessica (Kegan) Bishop; nephew, Wade (Holly) Miller; along with many other extended family.
A private family graveside will take place in the McDonald Chase Cemetery. In memory of Todd, the family asks that you consider donating blood to assist with others going through medical treatments. Memorials may also be donated to the Animal lifeline of Iowa for Todd's love of pets.
