Travis Dwayne Chaney, age 51, of Mena, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Mena, Arkansas. He was born on Wednesday, June 20, 1973, to Danny and Yolanda Mendoza Chaney in Omaha, Nebraska.
Travis proudly served his country in the United States Navy for five years, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. A man of many passions, he found joy in cooking and grilling for family and friends, often turning everyday meals into memorable gatherings. He brought dedication and leadership to his role as an assistant manager at Brookshire's in Arkadelphia, where he was well respected by coworkers and customers alike. Travis cherished the quiet peace of fishing trips and was an enthusiastic sports fan, faithfully cheering on the LA Lakers, Detroit Lions, and his all-time favorite, Kobe Bryant. His warmth, loyalty, and spirited nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

I am so broken by Travis´ loss. He was not only my manager but also my friend. Because he was younger, I expected to have his kindness and his biting humor much longer in my life. I was looking forward to that, actually, since I´m at an age where losing my mentors and my friends is now commonplace. Losing the younger ones and favorite students I have taught -- well, that stings. Travis was a wonderful addition to life and a bright spot in my days. His family has every right to be proud of him.
