Travis M. Johnson

Travis M. Johnson, 38, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 10, 2025 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief battle with leukemia. He was born on August 6, 1987 to Jerry and Patty Johnson in Louisville, Kentucky.

Travis is survived by his wife, Kristen (Abbott) Johnson; daughter, Avery Mae Johnson; parents, Jerry and Patty (Kirkland) Johnson; brother-in-law, Tim Abbott; sister-in-law, Kendall Abbott; mother-in-law, Glenda Abbott, as well as his cherished dogs, Buster and Ayden.

Travis was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. He was loyal, kind, considerate, hardworking, creative, and handy. He was always ready with a joke or an impression, which he may or may not have rehearsed frequently on his way to work. He wore his heart on his sleeve without fear and was known to have teary-eyed heart-to-heart conversations with loved ones. He showed humility and compassion, and frequently helped anyone who needed it. He was steadfast and strong in hard times but gentle and caring when it mattered the most. He enjoyed playing the guitar, camping, brewery hopping, cooking, and golfing. He was a bourbon nerd and a skilled cocktail mixologist who enjoyed Tiki Friday™ with a Tommy Dorsey vinyl playing in the background. Travis was an avid Indianapolis Colts and UK Wildcats fan (Go Cats!).

Most of all, Travis loved spending time with his wife, daughter, family and friends. He was a loving, supportive, and empathetic husband and father. He was an incredible daddy and found a new sense of purpose and happiness when our special girl joined us in November 2024. Travis was wrapped around Avery’s finger from the start, and she was the apple of his eye. He would frequently show everyone, including strangers, photos of her as the proud dad that he was. He would do anything for a giggle and would go to the end of the world to protect her. Travis also cherished time with his guys, whether tossing a football, sharing a laugh, or reminiscing about sports around a bonfire. His humor, always unique and sometimes comically offbeat, brought energy and a sense of belonging to every gathering. His inner light was a gift to all who were lucky enough to grow close to him. His infectious, loving personality inspired a sense of peace and joy to those around him. More often than not, he was the reason the group got together, the initiator who valued these moments above all. Even through marriage, fatherhood, and illness, he never forsook his guys and was the kind of fierce and unwavering friend everyone hoped to have by their side.

A proud graduate of the University of Kentucky, he earned a Bachelor degree in Finance and Management, and later a Master of Science from Purdue University; Travis built a meaningful career in federal finance management. Travis was deeply respected by his colleagues for his intelligence, dependability, and initiative. He took great pride in his work and always sought to do his best – not for recognition, but to help others succeed. Known for anticipating needs and offering support before being asked, he was the kind of person everyone could rely on. He had a gift for lifting others up and making each day brighter with his wit, compassion, and genuine care for those around him.

A visitation service will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Randall and Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. There will be brief words of remembrance and a group prayer shared toward the end of the visitation period. Following the visitation, there will be a celebration of life at MashCraft Brewery, 11069 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Travis and Kristen considered themselves MashCraft regulars where they often played trivia and pickleball while visiting with friends and staff.

Most of all, Kristen and Avery will love our village to keep the memory of Travis alive. While Avery enjoyed lots of quality time with her daddy in her first year of life, she will not have the blessing of knowing him firsthand as she grows up.
