V.C. Tyler Jr.
V.C. Tyler Jr, 79, of San Saba, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, while hospitalized in Temple, Texas. V.C. was born September 23rd, 1945, in San Saba, Texas to Vurnal & Edna Tyler. V.C. was one of six kids and spent his time when not in school, helping his dad work on the farm. At the age of only 6, he was driving a tractor. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
V.C. was a proud Vietnam veteran and spent many years serving outside of the military by working for the Texas Youth Commission, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice from which he ultimately retired. Outside of working and serving his country, V.C. spent his life embracing the outdoors and finding peace and joy in the simple pleasures of fishing and hunting. Whether he was casting a line in his favorite lake or river, or hunting, he cherished every moment spent in nature. Later in life, V.C. would spend countless hours feeding and watching the deer while sitting on the back porch. It was with the sun setting and the wildlife in view that he felt most at peace - a moment of connection to the world around him that he cherished deeply.
A loving husband to Deloris (Dee) Tyler, and father to Shane Tyler, Toby Tyler, Donna Kay Tyler, & Jeffery Tyler, V.C. had an unmatched ability to bring comfort and warmth to those he loved. Whether fishing, spending time on the porch, or surrounded by family and friends, he had a way of making every moment feel special. His gentle guidance, stories, and presence will be missed more than words can express.
He is preceded in death by his mother Edna Tyler and father Vurnal Tyler, his sisters Claudia Poole, Susie Harkey, Sara Smith, and his brother Monroe Tyler, as well as his son Jeffery Tyler. He is survived by his wife, Deloris (Dee) Tyler, his children, Shane Tyler, Toby Tyler, & Donna Kay Tyler, his sister Pat West and her husband Bill of Oklahoma, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and the quiet beauty he brought to everyday moments.
A celebration of his life will be held on April 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba, Texas, where we will honor his memory and the love he gave to each of us. Immediately following the service will be a graveside service at Neal Cemetery in Spring Creek, Texas where military honors will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA. A meal will be served at the Church of the Open Door Saturday, April 5th, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. for all who want to attend.
Rest in peace, Dad. You are gone but will never be forgotten. We know you are out there casting a line, or sitting on the porch watching the deer, and finding peace in the beauty of the world you so dearly loved.
