Valentin "Val" Muñoz, Jr passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, in Plano, TX. Val was born June 9,1943 in La Union, NM to Valentin and Herlinda (Gonzalez) Muñoz, Sr. It was in high school that he met the love of his life, Mary Lujan. Val and Mary were married June 13, 1964, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mesilla Park, NM.
He graduated from Gadsden High School. Val graduated on September 13, 2005, from the University of Phoenix, earning his degree in Bachelor of Science of Information Technology. He worked as a computer operator and computer programmer for UCCEL, a provider of data processing and software services and as a contract programmer for BNSF, Bank of America. Val enjoyed playing with computers and watching classic TV shows.
Val is survived by his wife, Mary of The Colony, TX; sons, Michael and wife Yvette of Colorado Springs, Co and Daniel and wife Teresa of Corinth, TX; daughters, Cindy Muñoz-Pepper and husband Terry of Carrollton, TX, Valerie Whittenburg and husband Charles, of Valley, View TX and Christina Brents and husband Jason of Midland, TX; thirteen grandchildren, Kenneth Muñoz, Jeffery Muñoz, Valentin Muñoz, III; Victoria Muñoz, Natalie Muñoz, Joshua Pepper, Caleb Muñoz, Jaidyn Muñoz, Addison Muñoz, Charla Whittenburg, Ethan Brents, Madison Brents and Hudson Brents.
Val was preceded in death by his parents, Valentin and Herlinda Muñoz, Sr.; grandchildren, Lauren Mycheala Jeanette Muñoz and Shane Anthony Whittenburg; brother, Rodolfo (Rudy) Muñoz; sisters, Celia Stevenson and Josie Reynaud.
A visitation will be held January 27, 2023 at 10:00am at Grace Community Church, 2525 Forest Vista Dr, Flower Mound, TX followed by the funeral service at 11:00am. The burial will be at Slay-Bloomfield-Jones Cemetery in Mountain Springs, TX.
