The Chokshi Family is sad to announce the passing of our beloved Vasant Bacherlal Chokshi.

In Loving Memory of Vasant Chokshi, who passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, peacefully at home at age 86.
Vasant was born on March 18th, 1937 in Vadodara, State of Gujarat, India to Bacherlal and Saraswati. He grew up in Vadodara and attended M.S. University, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for National Rayon Corporation shortly after graduation, and married Ranjan Sheth on June 5th, 1964. In 1971, he immigrated to the United States to support his wife, two children Biren and Tejal, as well as his remaining family in back in India. He became a successful electrical engineer, and worked at a multitude of engineering firms. One of his greatest accomplishments was helping to design the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.
Throughout his years, he enjoyed many hobbies including crossword puzzles, politics, Indian cinema, and history. Above all he loved spending time with his family and vacationed with them often. He was the eldest of six siblings. He is predeceased by brothers Vinod, Pravin, Gopal, and Rashmi, and is survived by his sister Saroj. He leaves behind his wife Ranjan, son Dr. Biren Chokshi, his wife Melissa, and daughter Tejal Albanese. He will be dearly missed by grandchildren Michael, Sofia, Melanie, and Brian, along with his step grandchildren Sofia and Olivia.
