Venita June Boaz, age 85, of rural Carbondale, Illinois passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 at her home.
Venita was born August 22, 1937 in Carbondale, Illinois, a daughter of Jesse and Daphne (Reed) Owens. She married Melvin "Tuffy" Boaz on September 03, 1955 in Carbondale, IL. Venita was known as the Angel Lady by a multitude of florists. Her creations helped people express their love and sympathy throughout the tri-state area. How appropriate, as everyone she met felt loved and cared for. She was a self-proclaimed hugger, close friends, her doctors, and even the grocery clerk got a hug from her. She cared for the animals her kids rescued and also the friends they brought home. She was called Mom by more than just her children. Her deep faith in her Heavenly Father allows us to know she is in safe hands until we meet again.
She is survived by four children, Aaron L. Boaz of Carbondale, IL, James C.(Deborah) Boaz of Carbondale, IL, Donald E. (Andrea) Boaz of Clearwater, FL, and Lisa K. Gray of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin "Tuffy" Boaz; her parents, Jesse F. and Daphne Owens; and two siblings, Donald Owens and Delilah Owens.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 27th, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, IL. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022, 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Wimberly officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Creek Cemetery in Carbondale.
