Verna Jayne Ramos Sigo, a beacon of warmth and joy, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, at her home in Walton, Kentucky. Born on September 26, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Verna's infectious laughter and boundless love created a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Verna graduated from Lapel High School in Indiana, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship. Verna's home was always filled with laughter, the aroma of delicious meals, and the kind of welcoming spirit that drew people to her.
She is survived by her loving sons, Sean and Derek Ramos; her daughter-in-law, Karlee Ramos; her adored grandchildren, William, Maelynn, and Noah Ramos; her devoted sister, Paula Freund; and her caring brother, Jim Sigo. Her nieces, Carrie Freund Porter, Kelly Freund, and Jessa Sigo, will also hold dear their memories of Aunt Verna's kindness and playful spirit. Verna was preceded in death by her mother, Anne Kathryn Owney; her father, Vernon P. Sigo; and her sister, Marla Sigo.
Verna's life was a tapestry of moments spent with her family and the extended children she felt she had adopted through the years. Her home was a hub of activity, from late-night movies and board games to the occasional lively party. But nothing brought Verna more joy than watching her children grow and embracing every milestone with her grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength and love, fighting to stay with her family until the very end.
Her grandbabies were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment she spent cuddling, reading, and playing with them. Verna's ability to create a space where love was endless and surprises awaited at every turn made her home a sanctuary for all who entered.
Verna's friends and family will remember her as loving and friendly, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. Her presence was a comfort, and her ability to share memories and create new ones was a gift to everyone around her.
In her quieter moments, Verna could be found cuddled up with her puppy, lost in a good book, or reflecting on the joy that her family brought her. Her love for her family was her guiding force, and it was this love that kept her fighting through life's challenges.
We celebrate the love and happiness that Verna Jayne Ramos Sigo brought into our lives. Her spirit will live on in the stories we share and the memories we hold close to our hearts. Verna's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the unbreakable bonds of family. She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the lives of those she touched.
