Veronica Putt

Veronica "Violet" Putt, 95, of Midland, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025 with family by her side at Candlestone Assisted Living. She was born January 11, 1930 on the family farm in Mount Forest Twp, just outside of Pinconning, one of 16 children born to the late Harry and Helen (Sutko) Matijega. Veronica attended Pinconning schools and went on to earn a certificate in Home Economics from the Institute of Short Courses at Michigan State College, now Michigan State University, in 1947. She was a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and served with the Ladies of Blessed Sacrament for many years.
Veronica was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband Bernard Putt whom she married November 26, 1949. They were spectacular on the dance floor together dancing the Polka. She enjoyed every moment she spent in her kitchen where she prepared the family's favorite Polish dishes and baked and decorated her famous Christmas cookies with grandchildren by her side. She loved her flower garden as well, tending to it religiously, yet her priority was always her family. Veronica was a dedicated mother and grandmother, generous with her love, who will be missed tremendously.
Veronica is survived by her children, Roger Putt, Greg Putt, Gary (Lynda) Putt, and Renee (Michael) Green, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bernard in 1992; children, Bernard Putt Jr., Cindy Casey, Randy Putt, and Marcy Putt; her siblings, Anna, Kathryn, Mary, Rose, Eva, Frank, Michael, John, William, Joseph, Steven, Andrew, Edward, Anthony, and Chester.
Veronica's family would like to give a heart-felt thank you to Keri with CorsoCare Hospice and the special aides at Candlestone Assisted Living, Genna, Cecily, Celia, and the entire memory care staff.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3109 Swede Avenue. Father Rob Howe will officiate with entombment to follow in New Calvary Mausoleum. Veronica's family will receive friends at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy.
