Victor C. Manuel, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the age of 84, in
Greenville, South Carolina.
Vic was born in
Monmouth, Illinois, and grew up in the small town of Roseville, Illinois. He was the son of the late Howard Parker Manuel and Melba Jane Sovereign Manuel. Vic graduated from Roseville High School and Western Illinois University with a degree in Business Education and Business Administration. He taught school for 4 years and then transitioned into a career with Deere and Company where he worked for more than 30 years. He was the President of the Quad Cities Foreign Trade Zone, taught Junior Achievement, and was a Boy Scout Leader. He sang for weddings and funerals in high school and college and sang in the choir at First Presbyterian Church in Davenport, Iowa where he and his wife were members.
He enjoyed studying history and keeping up with current political events. He also enjoyed his many travels to Taiwan, Germany, Mexico and Hawaii but the most important thing in his life was his family.
Vic is survived by his loving wife Karen. Their love for each other was profound and set a wonderful example for everyone who knew them. He is also survived by his son Mark Manuel (Rachel) of Davenport, Iowa; daughter, Kristin Black (Tim) of
Simpsonville, South Carolina; two brothers, Jim Manuel (Linda) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Tom Manuel, of Macomb, Illinois; four grandchildren, Kelsey Anderson (Taylor), Tyler Black, Elliott Manuel (Allie) and Franki Manuel (Hayden); and a great granddaughter Ellie Anderson.
A small private family service will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast.
