Vincent Mount, of Randolph, formerly of Madison, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a short illness and hospitalization. He was 92.
Born in Kearny to Frances and Vincent T. Mount, he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1952 and served both active duty and in the reserves until his honorable discharge in 1960. He was part of the 623 Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron serving in Okinawa, Japan. Vincent often spoke in Morse Code. During his service, he was awarded the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He then attended Rutgers, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Vincent began his career with what was then Bell Atlantic in 1956 as a Toll Assigner. He retired from what became Verizon in 1992 as a Network Planning Manager.
Vincent loved to take cruises, with the love of his life, Barbara to over 30 ports of call, including half to their favorite, Bermuda. He enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes and roses and doing home construction and renovation projects. He also adored the many family dogs and pets.
He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, H.G. McCully Upstate Chapter and was a member of Christ Church in Summit.
He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara G. Mount. He was the loving father of Karen Mount Burke, Nancy Morris and her husband Sam and Debbie Morelli and her husband Frank; the devoted grandfather of Zachary and Sarah Morris, Frank M. Morelli and Christina Resz and her husband Robert; and the devoted great-grandfather of Evelyn and Ryleigh Resz. He is also survived by his extended family including Melissa and Mike Holk and their children Mackenzie and Jackson, Stacey McKee and her husband Scott, Steven Haythorn and Douglas Mount and his wife, Sandy, recently deceased, and their children. He was predeceased by his brother, Willis and his wife, Lois.
Family and friends are invited to his visitation at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street in Chatham on Wednesday, August 27th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held the following morning, Thursday, August 28th at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. An interment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery in Mendham.
