Viola Helen Pennington

Viola (Hott) Pennington, 91, formerly of Keyser, WV, died Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Rest Assured Living Center in Meyersdale, PA.
Born on January 4, 1932 in Burlington, WV, she was a daughter of the late Wilco Hott, Sr. and Rachel (Jones) Hott. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pennington, Sr. on November 25, 2004; her brother Wilco "Dune" Hott, Jr. and a great granddaughter, Isabella Pennington.
Mrs. Pennington worked several years at the Five and Dime Store in Keyser before she was married and then worked at the Thrifty Drug Store in California. She gave up working to become a full time mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Keyser.
Surviving is her daughter, Karen Parks of Cumberland, MD; a son, Robert Pennington, Jr. and wife Jane of Keyser; two sisters, Jean Corbin of Kearneysville, WV and Amelia Saville of Keyser and a brother, Robert Hott of Keyser. Also surviving are five grandchildren, James Pennington and wife Dena of North Carolina, Amber Matlick and husband Darin of Keyser, Christopher Hinkle and wife Johanna of Indiana, Alison Poland and husband Greg of Tennessee and Kiliaen Anderson and husband Matt of Alabama and eleven great grandchildren, Jacob Pennington, Sophia Pennington, Evan Matlick, Drew Matlick, Avery Hinkle, Cole Hinkle, Lexi Poland, Ian Poland, Drew Poland, Markus Anderson and Emma Anderson.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or services.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rest Assured Living Center for all the care, love and attention they gave to Mom during her six years in residence. An additional thanks is extended to the staff of ProMedica Hospice who also gave special care for Mom during the last 25 months of her life. She was a fighter to the end.
