Elizabeth Violet Barnard Rich age 105 passed away peacefully at her home in Pingree on Friday November 29, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Violet was born on December 18, 1918 in Blackfoot, Idaho the daughter of John Nichols and Elizabeth Emma Allen Barnard. She was the third oldest of eight children.
She attended school in Blackfoot, Idaho. She married Myrthon Layne Rich on October 3, 1935 in Tyhee and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah LDS temple on March 31, 1937. They were blessed with two daughters Carole and Kathlene.
Violet was a homemaker and worked at JCPenney's in Blackfoot, Idaho as a clerk, head cashier and later bookkeeper.
Violet was a member of the L.D.S. church and served as a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School secretary, assistant quilt chairperson, genealogy worker, ward librarian and Visiting Teacher.
She was a member of the Blue Bird Needlecraft Club and D.U.P.
She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, quilting, genealogy, going to the Temple, puttering in her yard and flower garden, car rides and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter Kathlene (Richard) Georgeson of Pingree, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Myrthon and daughter Carole (JB) Denlinger, her parents, seven siblings, a grandson and great grandson.
The family will meet with friends and family at the Hawker Funeral Home on Thursday December 5, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Friday December 6, 2024 at 11 am at the Pingree Ward Church 1533 W Hwy 39 in Pingree, Idaho. With a viewing one hour prior to the services.
The family wishes to thank Hands of Hope and Hospice of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Especially Gina and Shelby for their loving support and care.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 5 2024 at the Pingree LDS church. A viewing will be held the evening prior from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home plus an hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
