Virginia Joanne Baker (Potochniak) (known as "Ginny" or "Jean" by her friends and family) was welcomed into God's Kingdom on August 19, 2025. She passed away in Huntsville, Texas. She was survived by her son Matthew Baker and his wife Monika Baker, daughter Paula Morgan (Baker), Grandson Jacob Morgan, and granddaughters Grace Morgan and Elizabeth Baker.

Virginia was born on December 16, 1936, in Johnson City, New York to Paul Potochniak (who migrated from the Ukraine) and Mary Wasnivechak . Virginia was the sister to Anthony and Elizabeth Potochniak (predeceased). Virginia married the love of her life, Ronald Baker, on June 4, 1966, and promptly moved to California. She presided at St. Isadore's Catholic Church in Danville, California and enjoyed spending time in the casinos in South Lake Tahoe (which she called her second home) and on cruises with her family and friends. In her younger years, Virginia worked at Columbia Gas & Electric in New York, and then as a food demonstrator in local grocery stores in Danville, California.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, 230 Ukrainian Hill Road, Johnson City, NY 13790 (where her father, Paul Potochniak, was the founder and designer of the church) and laid to rest at 11:00 a.m. at the parish cemetery, located at 607 Brooks Road, Castle Creek, NY. All family and friends are welcome.
