Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
Virginia (Jenny) Barton, 97, entered into the arms of Jesus on June 1st, 2025 at her home in Rogersville,TN.
Jenny was born April 10, 1928 in the Imboden community of Wise county, VA to the Late Judge Terry Calton Sr. and Flora Etta Suthard (Calton).
Jenny was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Paul Edward Barton; her five siblings, Mary Ruth (Calton) Mabe, Blanche Edna (Calton) Newman, Mildred (Calton) Hurley, Judge Terry Calton Jr., and John Authur Calton; and daughter-in-law, Donna Barton.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Tony Barton and Michael Barton; and a very special daughter-in-law, Sandy Barton, who took exceptional care of Jenny in her final years of life.
Jenny is survived by 7 grandchildren, Carissa (Barton) Dunaway and husband Jacob, Shane Barton, Ginger (Barton) Quesenberry and husband Abe, Taylor Barton and wife Dakota, Oliva (Barton) Rasnick and husband Nathan, Dylan Barton and wife Megan, Morgan Barton and Fiancé Johnathan Whitaker; 13 great-grandchildren, Anissa Dunaway, Josie Dunaway, Xavier Barton, Trinity Barton, Spencer Quesenberry, Laramie Quesenberry, Montgomery Quesenberry, Trace Rasnick, (Truett Rasnick #14), Silas Barton, Samuel Barton, Seth Barton, Thomas Whitaker, Madison Whitaker; and several nieces and nephews.
Jenny, known as Nanny to her family, was a devoted member of Imboden Community Church where she faithfully attended until her later years in life. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.
Her hands were never idle, they prepared many wonderful meals, nurtured her children and grandchildren, and spent much time folded in prayer. She loved her family more than anything. She was a woman of grace that had a love for taking care of others. She believed deeply in the power of prayer, in which she found strength and guidance. She spent much time in scripture and was deeply rooted in her walk with God. Her life was a true demonstration of Proverbs 31.
Jenny has left behind many precious memories, and a lasting impression on all those that knew her.
To honor her request, there will be no public service.
In lieu of flowers: Contributions may be made in her name to Imboden Community Church 2106 Exeter Road, Appalachia, VA 24216 (mailing address: 15 E 25th St
