Virginia Hudson passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025 at Gothenburg Health.
Virginia was born to Omar and Marie (Adams) Hudson on February 28, 1935 in Green River, Wyoming. Her family had a farm south of Gothenburg, but did spend time in Green River, Wyoming and Grand Junction, Colorado. Virginia spent time in all three areas, but the majority of her life was spent in Gothenburg.
Virginia was one of the five Hudson sisters. Betty Waters, Mary Millsap, Juanita Hudson, Virginia Hudson, and Rose Findlay.
Virginia never married, but she and her sister, Juanita, served as surrogate grandmothers to nieces and nephews. If you knew Virginia, you likely knew Juanita as well since they were often together. They spent much time together with June Ostendorf.
Virginia was an active member of First Baptist Church of Gothenburg. She served the church body in various ways, even spending many Thursday mornings folding bulletins. She would make sure that she sent birthday cards to the members and attenders of First Baptist as a personal ministry. Virginia worked hard her adult life. She worked for the school in the janitorial department, she had also served as a CNA when she was younger at the hospital. Virginia loved the outdoors. She would spend as much time outside as possible. She enjoyed planting and caring for flowers. When she was at Hilltop, she would go outside as much as possible and never once complained that it was too hot.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Omar and Marie, and sisters: Betty Waters, Mary Millsap, and Juanita Hudson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, 10:00 AM -1:00 PM at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St, Gothenburg, NE.
A graveside service will be held, 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE, with Pastor Dan Urman officiating. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Virginia Hudson, please visit our Tree Store.
