Virginia Ellen “Nina” Wiedefeld passed away Wednesday November 13, 2025, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The family wishes to extend much gratitude for the care she was provided while she was a resident of the facility.

She was born on July 25, 1946, to Leon and Mary (Kosciulek) Glastetter in Cape Girardeau. Her life was spent in New Hamburg on the farm and in Cape when the family moved to the big city. She enjoyed many trips to St. Louis to spend time with the city cousins whom she remained close to her entire life. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in May of 1964, and married Herman Wiedefeld that November. He preceded her in death in 2018.

Over the years, she worked in administration, retiring from Pave Stone, and was a co-owner of the infamous Kids’ World in the Cape Town Plaza where she met and mentored many, many high school kids and nieces and nephews as they learned the ropes of their first real job. She remained especially close to her “adoptive” daughter Kim Hogan whom she met through that ownership.

She was devout in her faith and strong in her love for GOD. She attended St. Mary’s and later Immaculate Conception. She enjoyed attending her daughters’ churches as well.

She loved her kids and all those grandbabies and greats. She was blessed by daughters Angela and Mike Seabaugh and Lea Anne and Eric Rogers; grandchildren Kyle and Hali Bahner, Kory Bahner and Robert Steen, Brett and Jessi Ruch, Brock and Shiana Ruch, Alyssa and Demitrius McCarter, Taylor and Brock Long, and Paige and Lane Criddle. She was preceded in death by granddaughter, Chelsea Dye who we all know screamed “VIRGIE or POOPSIE” when Virginia entered the gates of Heaven. Great grandchildren are: Elaina, Isabella, Freya, Joey, Emmett, Evelyn, Hadley, Grey, Murphy, Fletcher, Charlie, Enzo, Maela, Greyson, Will, and 2 little girls due in 2026, who we all know she would have smothered with lots of love.

She is also survived by 2 brothers Gene and Jim, and in-laws Fran, Jeri, Wayne, Donna, Phyllis, Bev, Mary and Gary, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends including her card club ladies who started their club all the way back in the mid 60’s and remain close today.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Pat, Carolyn, and Dolores and in laws Mel, Bob, Johnny, Ray and great grandson, Rowan - all people she loved and is reunited with in her passing.

Virginia was fearless and loved to travel and hike and be out in nature. She and her husband enjoyed many years vacationing with friends Davey and Cathy taking long road trips all over the US.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The funeral is at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by burial in Cape, and then a family gathering at Crossroads Fellowship in Jackson.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or The Chelsea Dye Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Crossroads Church.
