Virginia "Jenny" Williamson, age 84, passed from this life to the next to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on February 20, 2024.
Jenny was born on May 23, 1939 at her grandfather Zach Masterson's home, which was a log cabin in Burnt Prairie, Illinois. Her parents were Opal Masterson Dunigan and George Gillard. Her grandfather was a great influence on her upbringing and was someone she looked up to and considered a hero.
Jenny married Galen "Clyde" Williamson on May 24, 1980 in Louisville, Illinois. During their life together, their walk of faith in God was deepened and could be characterized by their favorite prayer of surrender: "God you know best, please do that." Jenny also found great strength in praying "to be willing to be willing." Jenny and Clyde were members of the Browns First Christian Church in Browns, Illinois. She was a long time member of a 12-Step Recovery Program. That was her passion in life.
Jenny was preceded in death by Clyde on May 10, 2016. She was also preceded by her grandfather; her parents; and a sister, Nadine Shores-Elliott.
She is survived by her children: Son, Gregory (Renae) Johnson of Houston, Texas; daughter, Melanie Johnson of Sebastian, Florida; four grandchildren, Britney, Courtney, Lindsey and Gregory and their respective others; and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her favorite feline, Grace.
Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
A Celebration of Life Service for all friends and family will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. Inurnment of both Jenny and Clyde's cremains will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albion, Illinois. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside to honor Clyde's service to his country.
Memorials may be made to the First Missionary Baptist Church of Albion, Illinois or the First Presbyterian Church of Albion, Illinois.
