Walter Dean Bennett

Walter Dean Bennett, 72 of Lima, passed away February 17, 2026, at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

Dean was born June 5, 1953 in Lima, to Nola (Allen) Campbell, who survives him in Lima.

Dean was a 1972 graduate of Perry High School. He worked construction at many jobs, including Sears, Campnell Restoration, Resto Corporation, and concluding at Stewart and Sons. Dean worked as a painter for Larry Barber Painting in North Carolina and he enjoyed doing side jobs for his friends and family, helping when he was needed. Dean attended Cridersville Independent Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching football and basketball, especially the Cincinnati Bengals and the Boston Celtics. Dean enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, and being outside was one of his favorite places. He loved fishing, hunting and he had a wonderful green thumb, often giving his vegetables to his friends and family. Dean never failed to bring a smile to peoples' faces with his sense of humor and he never hesitated to help those in need. Most of all, Dean loved spending time with his family at family gatherings, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In addition to his mother, Dean is survived by his children, Brian Silas (Angela) Bennett and Angela Marie (Waylane) Nunley of Virginia; granddaughter, Mryanda (Zachary) Verdin of Florida, Ashton Carter, and Alissa Carter; sister, Wilma Casto, brother, Michael Springer; sisters, Kim (Larry) Brown and Shirley Miller, of Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his step-father, Clyde Campbell and his brother-in-law, Norman Casto.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Cridersville Independent Baptist Church with Pastors Brandon and Shane Wireman to officiate the service. Burial will take place at 11:30 AM on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026, at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES - SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cridersville Independent Baptist Church.
