Ward Wallace Tinney, 77 of Hinsdale, MA, passed away May 5, 2025 at home. Born in Adams, MA on February 27, 1948, he was the son of the late George and Margaret Roberts Tinney.
He was a 1966 graduate of McCann Technical High School and attended Berkshire Community College.
Mr. Tinney married the former Marion J. Dragon on February 10, 1968.
He was an electronics technician at General Electric. In his retirement, he was the founder and operator of Fernwood Forest Campground in Hinsdale.
Mr. Tinney is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Marion J. Tinney of Hinsdale. Five children, Ed Tinney (Tammy) of Willow Springs, NC, Laura Towne (Chris) of Town Creek, AL, Lori Tinney (partner Dan DeBlois) of Adams, MA, Diane Rocha (Jeff) of Paxton, MA, and Robin Knapp (George) of Hinsdale.
Fourteen grandchildren, Willie Hyland (Sabrina), Stephen Lazarczyk, Molly Blair (Ryan), Ashley Lazarczyk, Wesley Knapp; Nicholas (Heidy) Hyland; Emily Tinney, Noah Tinney, Evan Knapp, Caleb Rocha, Aiden Rocha, Lucas, Rocha, Lyla Towne, and Justin Towne, and two great- grandchildren, Owen Mally and Lacey Malloy. He also leaves his sisters, Beverly Tatro (Joseph) of North Adams, Tammy Moore (Wendell) of Menands, NY, two brothers, Wayne Tinney (Darlene) of Adams, and Tom Tinney (Cindy) of Adams. He was predeceased by his sisters, Carolyn Puffer and Grace Provost.
Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Ward W. Tinney will be held Friday, May 30, at 1:00 p.m, at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Charles F. Young officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to Hinsdale Fire Department in care of Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E. Main St, Dalton, MA 01226
