Wayne T. Paulsen, age 68 of "Billingsport" Paulsboro, NJ passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Born in Woodbury to the late Robert Roland Paulsen and Caroline (nee Plotts), he graduated from Paulsboro High School Class of 1975. Wayne worked for Gloucester County where he was a warehouse manager for 20+ years. Wayne served on the Paulsboro Board of Education and was a Past President.
Wayne was a man of many talents. He was known by many as the Icy Man, he served many snowballs on hot, hot days. He was a coach for little league and supported all Paulsboro sports. He loved baseball, was an avid Philadelphia Phillies Fan, and was an umpire for Independent Umpire Association. Wayne was a Member of Woodbury Moose Lodge #2585 and South Jersey Moose Legion #65.Wayne was Moose of the Year in 2023. He enjoyed woodworking, but most of all loved his family, and adored his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Betty Ann (nee Darrell); two sons, Preston A. Paulsen & his wife, Katie and Raynor A. Paulsen & his wife, Haley; four grandchildren, Dominic, Nicolas, Samuel, and Rosie Paulsen; his siblings, Sarah Redmond & her husband, Gordon, James Paulsen & his wife, Patti, Robert Paulsen, Karen Paulsen, Thomas Paulsen & his wife, Marie and Johnny Paulsen and his wife, Kathleen; sister-in-law, Debbie Gooch & her husband, Dan; and many nieces & nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his brother, Frankie Paulsen; and his in-laws, John B. Darrell and Elizabeth (nee Frye).
Relatives and friends may visit from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 15th at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ where a Moose service will be held at 7:45 pm, and another visitation from 10 am to 11 am on Wednesday, July 16th where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow in Ferrell United Methodist Cemetery in Elk Twp., NJ.
