On Tuesday February 25th, 2025, Wayne James Wright, loving husband, Father and Papa, was called home at the age of 63, after a battle with cancer.
Wayne was strong willed, stubborn at times, and liked to cut his own path, but he also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and his infectious laugh could fill a room. He was clever, extremely witty, and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. Although he loved things like his dump truck, tinkering with his speed boat, and Razorback sports, his one true love was his family. He absolutely adored being a Papa to his granddaughter Piney and he never knew a stranger. He is greatly loved by all of his family and many friends.
Wayne attended Buckner Baptist Church for over forty years. Children were always drawn to his playful and welcoming spirit. He and his wife Elisha led the youth group at Buckner Baptist for fifteen years.
Wayne was born May 19th, 1961 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Jim and Angie Wright. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1979 and then attended Northwest Vo Tech for diesel mechanics. He worked several jobs throughout the trucking and logistics industry, including owning and operating his own dump truck, which was his favorite. After his stroke in 2017, you could find him enjoying his favorite music on the back patio and building bonfires that were way too big to be in the backyard.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Jim Wright, his mother, Angie Wright, and his sister, Judy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elisha, his daughter, Heather Harris and husband Ryan, his granddaughter, Piney, his sister Connie Fisher and husband Joe, several cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family and many great friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at 11am at Buckner Baptist Church. Also a visitation with family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 from 4-6pm at the church at 2780 E Wyman Road, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701.
Flowers can be delivered to Buckner Baptist Church from 8-10am on Saturday, MArch 1st or from 8-10am on Monday March 3rd. Please deliver to the fellowship hall side door, which is located under the pull thru carport that sits between the two buildings. The fellowship hall is the smaller building on the east side of the carport.
