Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rhodes Funeral Home - Karnes City on Mar. 27, 2024.
Wilbert Lee Moczygemba passed away peacefully at the ranch doing what he loved on Monday, March 25th, 2024, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving cows, finding rest on the very land he took such care of, that in return, took care of him, and will go on to take care of his family in his place.
Lee was born in
Falls City, TX, on June 7th 1947, the son of the late Frank and Theresa Moczygemba. He married the love of his life, Helen Pawelek on June 6th 1970, at the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in
Karnes City, TX.
He graduated from Falls City High School, then pursued a college education at San Antonio College. After studying Electronics Engineering and Technology, he went into the Air Force Reserves. Upon completion, he began a long, successful 36 year career at CPS Energy.
Lee enjoyed catching huge fish and hunting in his earlier years. He loved Falls City Beaver football, so much so that he left his wife at the hospital upon Brian's birth for the big playoff game. (Don't worry, we're getting to the redeeming qualities, just keep reading). He also was one of the best soccer coaches the country has ever seen; as described from his two sons whom he coached. In later years, he loved spending time with his precious cows out at the ranch, taking the grandkids on tractor rides and feeding the cows ranch cubes, summoning them with the classic "Pootzinah!" Polish call. Most of all, he valued spending quality time with his family during the holidays, traveling on the occasional family vacations, and having big sleepovers at their house with the entire family to celebrate.
Lee is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Helen (Pawelek) Moczygemba; his 2 children: Brian (Debra) Moczygemba, and Bradley (Brooke) Moczygemba; and his 5 grandchildren: Justis, Taylor, Aubrey, Bree, and Braxton. He is also survived by his 5 siblings: Sister Dorothy Moczygemba, Alvin (Bernadette) Moczygemba, Gene (Mary) Moczygemba, Evelyn Michalec, and Irene (Gene) Woelfel, sister in law, Lynette Moczygemba, and is preceded in death by his brother Mark Moczygemba and brother-in-law Dave Michalec.
Family, friends, co-workers, and everyone who his life touched will all describe Lee as many things: an ultimate caretaker of cattle, grumpy from Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, an absolute catch of a husband, a stern, but all loving father, much needed comedic relief in a family-wide argument, one of the strongest parts of the foundation to our beautiful family, and a genuine example of strength, faith, honesty, and hard work. Through his own strength and sheer determination to make a better life for his family, and through our Lord and Savior, he accomplished just this and much more in his life.
The visitation is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in
Falls City, TX. The rosary will be recited at 12:30 a.m. and funeral mass will be celebrated immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Father Andrzej Waszczenko. The interment will be in the Falls City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gene Moczygemba, Nathan Moczygemba, Jason Moczygemba, Kevin Moczygemba, Chris Michalec, Larry Kotara. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Moczygemba, Gene Woelfel, John Massey, Derek Moczygemba.
