Ed was born on September 20, 1948, in Weatherford, Texas. He graduated from Weatherford High School in 1967. Ed later joined the Navy and proudly served his country for four years. He worked at a variety of jobs, including various positions in the oilfield and several departments with the City of Weatherford before he retired after 20 years of service.
Ed was an avid outdoorsman and gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed debating politics with his many friends. Ed was a true patriot and a proud Veteran. He enjoyed his retirement in Lipan/Santo where he made many new friends and acquaintances. Ed passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, September 9th, after a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, “Cobb” and Florence Barton, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ed is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janice Barton; son, Casey Barton; daughter, Monica Reince and her husband, Chris and grandsons Cole and Gage; son, Kenny Wiles and wife, Amy and granddaughter Abigail; and many cousins.
Ed’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.
