William (Bill) Brian Hartwick

Saginaw Twp., Michigan

William (Bill) Brian Hartwick, age 75, of Saginaw, MI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in the early morning hours of August 16, 2025.

Bill was born on July 13, 1950, to Cecil and Lillian Hartwick in Bay City, MI. He grew up in Au Gres, MI, with his three older siblings, playing basketball and saxophone at AuGres HS, graduating in 1968. He spent much of his free time hunting and fishing with his dad and brothers when he and those same brothers weren't getting into a variety of shenanigans!

He began attending CMU in 1968 and began dating Miss Bonnie Kauffman in 1969. They united in marriage on December 18, 1971. Bill began his career in sales and went on to start his own company, HJB Distributors. He spent years picking up contracts to install technology and media in schools throughout the state of Michigan and even for the Ohio State University football field! As technology advanced, he transitioned away and began his long-haul trucking company, which he operated until May 2025.

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Hartwick, and his two sons, Jon (Heather) Hartwick and Ben (Sarah) Hartwick. His favorite ice cream eating partners - his grandchildren - Samantha Hartwick, Jonathan Hartwick, Hunter (Madison) Hartwick, William (Savannah) Hartwick, Melody Hartwick, Justin Hartwick, and his first great grandchild, due in November. Bill is also survived by his sister Melanie (Michael Wright) Gelow, brother Cecil (Genny) Hartwick, Jr., sister-in-law Ruth Hartwick, as well as his stepmother-in-law Mildred Kauffman, siblings-in-law Rhoda (Willie) Gonzales, Nancy Kauffman, Eugene (Carol) Kauffman, Keith (Linda) Kauffman, Lynette (Joel) Hartzman, Kimberly Kauffman, and many cousins, friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his parents-in-law, his oldest brother Thomas Hartwick, brothers-in-law Willie Gonzales, Dean Kauffman, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Colleen and Ron Martin.

Bill was well-known for his immense generosity toward anyone and everyone. He would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it more than him. He was known for his unique sense of humor, his open love for his family, and boy oh boy, a pie hated to see him coming!

In accordance with the wishes of William and his family cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Bob Hudberg, a longtime friend, and his son Jon Hartwick will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday, August, 24, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those wishing to make a donation in honor of Bill's life may consider memorial contributions to Shammah Outreach, Flint, Michigan.
