William H. Craig, age 93, of Memphis, TN passed away on November 18, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Buddy was born in Memphis, Tennessee, November 24, 1931 to William H. Craig Sr. and Gertrude Myra Craig. He graduated from Bartlett High School where he excelled in all sports, including football, baseball, basketball, track and pole-vaulting. His high school accolades included “Cutest Boy”, “Most Popular Boy”, and “Best All-Around Boy” of his senior class.
He attended the University of Mississippi and played football in 1950/51 under Coach Vaught. His nickname was “Mighty Mite”because he only weighed 150 pounds, but was fast. He served in the Korean War as a Sergeant until 1960, when he was honorably discharged.
He met the love of his life, Etta Lou Robertson, and they were married on July 30, 1955, and spent 70 wonderful years together. Buddy started an entry-level position and spent the next 45 years at DuPont, retiring as Lucite Sheeting division Engineer.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Etta Lou; four adoring daughters, Sandra Hale, Cathy Cupp (Bill), LeAnn Chandler(Harris), and Karen Carter (Jerry); and his treasured grandchildren, Madeline Carter, Jake Chandler, and Ethan Chandler. Buddy will be remembered by his faith, honesty, sense of humor, integrity, strong work ethic, and his love for the Ole Miss Rebels. There was not a thing in the world that he couldn’t repair or fix. He loved sharing stories and talking, and joking with everyone. He touched everyone he met, and truly to know him was to love him.
