William N. "Willie" Davis, Jr., 81, of Sebring, Florida died November 4, 2022, following a lingering illness. He was born on June 7, 1941, in Grove Hill, Alabama to the late William Neal Davis and Marie Clarke Davis. Willie retired from the Armed Forces after 20+ years, having served his Country in the U.S. Army Reserves, U.S. Air Force and later retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard as a Chief Petty Officer. During his military career, Chief Davis was awarded numerous medals and citations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, three Coast Guard Good Conduct awards and a Presidential Unit Citation. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Willie is survived by his three daughters, Kim Davis Smith (Sam) of Elizabeth City, N.C., Sheila Davis Kidd of Edinburg, VA, and Lisa K Whitesell (Wayne) of Fredericksburg, VA. and six grandchildren, Erin Ward Rhoades, Mikaela Kidd, Holly Whitesell Coe, Thomas Whitesell, Jordan Whitesell and Emily Whitesell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy A. Davis and two brothers, Robert A. Davis, and Thomas E. Davis.
A Service of Remembrance will be held later. Chief Davis will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery with military honors. Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Davis family.
