William Hartley Dingeldein, 97, of Elizabethtown, PA, formerly of McKeesport and Myerstown, PA died Friday, November 15, 2024 at Masonic Village.
He was the widower of Lillian (Conti) Dingeldein, who died in 2020.
Born in McKeesport, PA on October 26, 1927, he was a son of the late William and Gladys E. (Miller) Dingeldein.
Mr. Dingeldein served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
William graduated with a BA degree from Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA in 1953.
He retired in 1985, after 20 years, as a research manager at Carpenter Technology Reading, PA. He also worked as an independent contractor, for 20 years, in the Technical Consulting field for ASTM.
William enjoyed gardening, wood working, reading, and financial planning.
He is survived by sons, W. Bruce Dingeldein, of West Reading, PA; Richard H Dingeldein, of Myerstown, PA; and Russell K, husband of Laurie Dingeldein, of Harrisburg, PA; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Kowallis and Richard Kowallis; and several neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Delores Melon and Gladys O'Toole; and a brother, Donald Kowallis.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. November 27, 2024, at Sell Chapel, at Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Interment is private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, PA.

A Korean War veteran has passed away today. Bill, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran and mason. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final bugle has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender.
