William B. "Bill" Ewing Jr., 83, of Hillsdale, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Drews Country Living in Hillsdale. He was born February 14, 1941, in Reading, to William and Virginia (Weber) Ewing. Bill married Janet Vogelsang on June 15, 1963, and she preceded him in death on September 21, 2012.
Bill attended Reading Schools and he graduated from Litchfield High School in 1959. He also graduated from Jackson Community College as a journeyman tool and die maker. For over 45 years, Bill was employed at Hillsdale Tool, retiring as the manager of the prototype department. From 1971-1994, he also owned and operated the Andy Adams Sale Barn at the Hillsdale County Fair. Bill formerly taught courses at Hillsdale College, attended St. Anthony Catholic Church, and was a member of the City of Hillsdale tax review board. He was an avid car enthusiast, taking many car trips across the country with various car clubs. Bill also enjoyed traveling and spending time working in his perfectly manicured yard.
Survivors include two children, Sheila (James) Friedline of Burlington, Indiana, and Jeffery (Christina) Ewing of Reading; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Ewing of Hillsdale.
In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Ewing; brother, George Ewing; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Ewing.
A graveside funeral for William "Bill" Ewing will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the St. Anthony Cemetery in Hillsdale. Arrangements are entrusted to VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Hillsdale County Agricultural Society – Fair Building Fund.
