William Joseph Geisenheimer

William "Sonny" Geisenheimer, 90, of Sorrento, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025 with his daughter Tina by his side.

Born on April 1, 1935, in New Orleans to Thelma and William, Sonny grew up with a love for the Louisiana outdoors. A proud member of the Kenner Fire Department, he served his community with courage and dedication for 20 years before retiring.

In his younger days, Sonny could usually be found hunting or fishing. He had a special gift for candid photography, quietly capturing the real moments that others missed. One of his proudest achievements was winning an award for a striking self-portrait. Even more treasured by his family is the beautiful, tender photograph he took of his dear mother, Thelma-a portrait so full of love and light that it has been carefully passed down from parent to child, keeping her memory alive in every home where it hangs.

Sonny is survived by his daughter, Tina Pierce; his grandchildren; his great-grandchild; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Alvin Geisenheimer.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation for family will begin at 10:00 a.m., with visitation for others starting at 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place immediately afterward at Cypress Grove Cemetery, 120 City Park Ave., New Orleans, LA 70124.
