William R. Ireland, 75, of Batavia, N.Y., passed away on June 3, 2025, after living with Parkinson's disease for several years.

Born in Medina, N.Y., on Feb. 14, 1950, William was a son of the late William N. and Joan (Eckerson) Ireland. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Kathleen (Kevin) Manne; grandson, Logan Manne; and sisters Janice Ireland (Michael Hancock), Alice (late Richard) Sulimowicz, Claudia (late Joseph) Sulimowicz. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Rosemary Long (late Harold).

William graduated from Alexander Central School in 1968, and went on to earn an associate degree from Genesee Community College in 1970 and a bachelor's degree in computer science from SUNY Potsdam in 1972. After graduating, he worked as a systems analyst programmer at Genesee Community College before working in information technology for Genesee County for more than 35 years. He also served as an adjunct instructor in information technology and computer programming for Genesee Community College for many years.

A dedicated husband, William enjoyed more than 51 years with Sandra following their wedding on Dec. 1, 1973. He loved movies and technology, and could often be found enjoying a turkey dinner at Miss Batavia Diner or snacking on chocolates. He also was an avid hunter and would share stories about the times he spent on the trail with his father. His favorite color was blue, and he could almost always be found wearing one of his many well-worn blue shirts.

William will be laid to rest in the columbarium at Elmwood Cemetery in Batavia. There will be no service or calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William's honor to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research: https://www.michaeljfox.org/donate.
