William (Skip) Michaud, 81 of South Windsor CT, died Wednesday October 9th, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with Cancer. He was born December 7, 1942, in Saco Maine, to Henry and Barbara (Souza) Michaud.
William was a family man and enjoyed activities where he was able to cook, bake and entertain others. He was a family historian who loved taking others on trips down memory lane. You could find him driving with his arm out the window, as his favorite dog Porter rode in the back on the way to the garden, where he would grow enough vegetables to feed numerous families. He was employed at The University Hartford for almost 40 years and was considered Mr. University of Hartford. He loved tending to his yard and never met a leaf he couldn't battle. He enjoyed taking day drives and was known to drive to Maine for the day just to get Clam Chowder. He will forever be missed by those who knew and Loved him.
He was survived by the love of his life, to whom he was married for 46 years, Peggy (Edwards) Michaud and their daughter Melanie Michaud (Roseann) of Hartford. He was also survived by his children Theresa (Allan) Jubrey of Windsor Locks, Jeannine (Rod) Plumley of Cocoa Fl and William Jr (Heather) Michaud of Windsor Ct. Besides his children he is also survived by his Brothers Teddy Michaud and Wendall Michaud, and his sister Debbie Michaud. He also had 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren with whom he adored. He was predeceased by his son Michael Michaud, who passed away in 2015; his brother Leroy Michaud and sisters Carol Alleano and Sharon Fontana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, 11 a.m., meeting directly at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
The family would like to Thank St. Francis Hospital & Smilow Cancer Center and his hospice nurse Joseph Britz for the care that was shown to him and his family throughout this journey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in William's name to The Prostate Cancer Foundation.
