Pastor William Nails was born on April 10, 1962, in Sulligent, AL to the late Willie B.
and Eddie Ruth Nails. He received Christ, was baptized with the Holy Ghost, and accepted
his call into the ministry to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, as a young man at the Sulligent
Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Superintendent R.W. McDaniel. He
took his place in heaven at the age of 63 on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Funeral services will be
held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00am at New Jerusalem Church Of God In Christ,
Sulligent, AL with graveside services and burial to follow in Furnace Hill Cemetery. Pastor
Michah Redd to officiate. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral service
from 10:00am until 11:00am.
He's a 1980 graduate of Sulligent High School. He was a 23 year veteran of the United States
Army. He served faithful under the late Superintendent W.R. McDaniel at Sulligent Church
Of God In Christ; First Church of God In Christ in Texas, Superintendent John C Robinson;
Holy Ghost Corner Church Of God In Christ in Hawaii, Pastor Wayne Penn; he returned to
Sulligent and served as Pastor for Sulligent Church of God In Christ; served as the Assistant
Pastor under Superintendent Murry Johnson New Jerusalem Church Of God In Christ; served
as the Assistant Pastor under the late Superintendent Dr. Wiley C. Neal, until becoming
pastor of Community Church Of God In Christ.
While attending the Alabama First Jurisdictional Holy Convocation, he met Tammerlyn
(Tammi) Smith. He moved to Troy, Alabama where he worked as an Aircraft Technician with
Sikorsky Aircraft, A Lockheed Martin Company, until he retired. He married the love of his
life, and they were united in Holy Matrimony on August 30, 2008. Pastor William and District
Missionary Tammi Nails were united for sixteen years before his passing.
He was a loving and proud father to four wonderful children, William Omar (Amber) Nails,
Sr., Rockwall, TX, Andrea (Ulysses) Bridges, Mustang, OK, Jonathan (Stormie) Nails,
Sulligent, AL, and special son, Omari Vaughans, Troy, AL; brother of Willie Mac Nails,
Wichita, KS; Eddie James (Doris) Nails, Vernon, AL; Geneva (Harold) Ross, Mobile, AL;
special nephew whose was like a son, Nick (Jennier) West; Mobile, AL; grandfather of twelve
grandchildren; spiritual father to several godchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. and Eddie Ruth Nails and his brother, MacArthur
Nails. He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his devoted wife, District Missionary
Tammi Nails; children, William Omar (Amber) Nails, Sr., Andrea (Ulysses) Bridges, Jonathan
(Stormie) Nails, and special son, Omari Vaughans; brother of Willie Mac Nails, Wichita, KS;
Eddie James (Doris) Nails, Vernon, AL; Geneva (Harold) Ross, Mobile, AL; grandfather of
twelve grandchildren; aunt, several godchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, church family
and friends.
