William Henry "Bill" Nehrt

William Henry "Bill" Nehrt, 85, of Sparta, IL; born on July 22, 1940 in Sparta, IL, the son of Henry and Caroline "Carrie" (née, Rabe) Nehrt; joined the Lord on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation in Chester, IL.

Bill was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sparta where he held many different offices. He attended Southeast Missouri State University and served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. Bill was active in the community, serving as a member of the Sparta Chamber of Commerce and Rotary International. He worked at Sparta Community Hospital for over 19 years and was an administrator for over 6 of those years. He also drove for Sparta Iron Ford. Bill enjoyed playing card games, bridge, hand and foot, and many other games.

He is survived by his loving wife – Darlyn Audrey (née, Wolverton) Nehrt of Sparta, IL to whom he married on February 11, 1978 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sparta, IL; two brothers-in-law – William (wife, Sharon Brooks) McMurtry and Bob Wolverton; numerous nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorris May (née, Nehrt) McMurtry.
