William “Willy” Pedro

Sheldon, Iowa

            William “Willy” Pedro, age 60, of Sheldon passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, Iowa.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 2:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Sheldon Eagles Club, 411 Park Street, Sheldon, Iowa with Pastor Arturo Gomez ~ officiating.

            A Private Family Burial will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 in the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton, Iowa

 

Arrangements are under the care of the Andringa Funeral Home in Sheldon.

     William “Willy” Pedro, the son of William Charles and Juna Lea (Shatwell) Pedro was born on October 5, 1963 in Bishop, California. He received his elementary education Natchez Elementary in Wadsworth, Nevada. He moved with his parents to Roscoe, Missouri where he attended also school. He attended Osceola High School and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. Growing up Willy had different jobs in Missouri, he milked cows for a good friend, like a second family to him, He moved to Arvada, Colorado to be with his dad and worked for Jefferson County. In 1986, he moved to Sheldon, Iowa and worked for his brother-in-law, Glen Sauer, farming. He found employment with Farm Service in Sheldon. He met Sandra R. Klein in 1986 and were later married on October 17, 1987 in the City Park in Sheldon, Iowa. Willy bought his own truck and hauled grain for Farmer’s Co-op in Ritter, Melvin, Sanborn and Boyden, he then went on his own over the road. Years later he pulled for Bob and Jan Iedema for a few years and then later sold his trucks and started driving for MLB (Mark Smith) of George, Iowa until he found out that he had cancer. While trucking over-the-road, Willy met various well-known people. Willy was diagnosed with lung, brain and blood cancer on April 24, 2023 and has fought the good fight until his passing on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon, IA reaching the age of 60 years, 5 months and 4 days.

     Willy loved his family and his grandkids and always had things for them to do such as, riding go-carts, seeing the animals when they came to visit. He also enjoyed Nascar, building his race cars and he enjoyed figure 8 racing in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Worthington, Minnesota and Primghar, Iowa. Willy was a past member of the Sheldon Eagles Club.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandy of 36 years and their 3 daughters, Carmen (Skylar) Ellis of Calumet, IA; Amber Pedro (Kyle) Feltman of Primghar, IA and Billie Pedro of Sheldon; 5 grandchildren, Kinnick and Lillian (Lilly) Ellis, Peyton and Kayden Feltman and RaeLynn Daniel; his brothers and sisters, Pam (Greg) Green of Glenwood, CO, Jim (Jackie) Pedro of California, MO, Kevin (Joni) Pedro of Shell City, MO and Sandy Rash of El Dorado Springs, MO; half-brother, Doug Burns Stockton, MO; half-sister, Diana Fithes of Kansas City, MO; a step-sister, Sheryll (Sauer) Adkins of Baltic, SD; and other nieces, nephews and other family relatives and friends.

     He is preceded in death by his parents, a half-sister, Sheri Holash, his in-laws, Rex and Marlene Klein, his father-in-law, Mike Schwarzkopf and his aunts and uncles.
