William Dale Roy, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members on June 15, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on August 21, 1940, in Franklin, Indiana. Known by his family and friends as Bill, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Bill graduated from Franklin High School in 1959. He dedicated his career to Western Electric (Lucent Technologies) as an installation technician. He retired after 37 years. With this position, he transferred from Indianapolis to Oklahoma City in 1983. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication to his colleagues.
Beyond his professional life, Bill had many passions. He loved attending car races, especially the Indy 500 and Nascar races. He also was quite a sports fan and loved watching Oklahoma professional and college teams. He also loved traveling and traveled to 49 of the 50 States along with Canada and Mexico. He was an active member of The Bridge church and enjoyed volunteering through the church. Bill also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mary Roy, his sister, Carolyn (Roy) Richards (Joseph), his children, Robert Michael Roy (Jennifer), Stacy Denise (Roy) Fehlinger (Mike), Stepson, Lewis Thomas Ford, III, (Michelle), and his grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Roy, Alexandra Nicole Fehlinger and Adriana Ciara Fehlinger, and his great-grandchildren, Taylor N. Baumgardner, Blake Dylan Burris and Charlotte Jones. Bill was also a godfather to Aaron Fowler, Reuben Fowler, Jacob Thompson and Dallas Lee Thompson.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil M. Roy and Pauline (Hubbard) Roy. Bill married Mary (Turner Ford) Roy on May 4, 1984, and recently celebrated 41 years of marriage.
A funeral service will be held at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, Franklin, Indiana 46131, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, with visitation from 4p.m. to 7p.m. and funeral service at 7p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 2:30p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
