William E. "Jack" Snider, 85, of Quarryville, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Leroy and Zella (Roland) Snider and the loving husband of Nancy (Scotten) Snider for 67 years.
Jack was a 1958 graduate of Solanco High School. He retired from the Carpenters Union and Solanco School District. He was a longtime member of Memorial United Methodist Church, where he held many positions. He was presently a member of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church.
Jack was a founding member of Solanco Midget Football and also coached midget baseball. After retirement, he golfed with the "No Score 4" at Tanglewood and bowled in a senior league at Rocky Springs. His legacy will be the love he showed to his family in every way; vacations at the beach and the family cabin in Huntingdon Co., which he dearly loved.
He was a member and past master of Washington Lodge #156 in Quarryville and was currently a member of Lancaster Lodge #143. Jack was also a member of the Shriners, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, and the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge of Quarryville. Jack served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. He was a charter member of the Quarryville Jaycees and served many years on the Quarryville Boro Council.
In addition to his wife Nancy, Jack is survived by a daughter, LuAnn Snider and a son, Garry, husband of Cindy Snider. He was Grampa to Lindsay (Rebecca) Snider, Nicholas (Mandi) Parmer, Marley Parmer (Christopher), Ashlee Kreider (Derrick), and Brock (Ali) Snider. Also surviving are great grandchildren: Caleb, Myles, Hayden and Dawson Snider; and Lincoln, Holden and Wrenlee Kreider, and a sister, Carol Snader. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry E. Snider and a brother, Herbert Snider.
A Memorial Service will take place at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Rd., Quarryville, PA on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville, PA on Sunday evening from 5-8 p.m. A Masonic service will start promptly at 8:30 p.m. Private interment will be in the Quarryville Cemetery. Jack Snider - a favorite memory from my childhood years. We went to Wrightsdale Baptist church together, and several years lived just down the road from his parents. Jack might have been married by that time, I'm not sure. He certainly will be missed by family, all of those who knew him and his love for the community and his church. Nancy, I still remember four years ago when we came to Quarryville for a few days and stayed at the Presbyterian guest house, you and Jack came with the sweetest visit to Darrell. Very precious, even more so now. Love and Prayers to you and your family.
