William Edward "Bill" Unger, Sr., 77, of Capon Bridge, WV, died on Friday, December 8, 2023 at his home.
Bill was born on February 16, 1946 in Berkeley Springs, WV, the son of the late Calvin S. and Martha Bishop Unger. He worked as a stone mason owning and operating William Unger Construction and attended Amazing Grace Baptist Church both located in Capon Bridge. Bill enjoyed going to Deep Creek Lake, watching old westerns, and being with his family.
Bill married Carolyn J. "June" Sliger-Unger on October 31, 1984 in Oakland, MD.
Surviving with his wife of 39 years are two sons: David M. Unger of Hedgesville, WV; William E. "Billy" Unger, Jr. (Laureen) of Woodstock, VA; a step-son: Milford F. Sliger (Donna) of Hedgesville, WV; seven sisters: Becky Palmer (Tommy) of Gerrardstown, WV; Mary Unger of Cumberland, MD; Ann Riggleman (Tom) of Berkeley Springs, WV; Margaret Whitacre of Clear Springs, MD; Ellie Reynolds of Arkansas; Fran Maclee of Melbourne, FL; Millie McKinley of Hancock, MD; a brother: Joe Unger of Winchester, VA; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by five sisters: Nancy Golliday, Evaline Madison, Betty McCoy, Louise Jennings, Naomi Stewart; and six brothers: Wesley, Lester, Lawrence, Lloyd, James, & David Unger.
A funeral service will be held at Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 1:30 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Vernon Bray.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-1:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
