William "Bill" Weston passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2025 at the age of 83. Bill is remembered fondly by his adoring wife Maggie, his children Sue (Scott) and Deanna, his grandchildren Kyle (Megan), Ben and Brooke, his brother Tony (Nancy) and many amazing nieces and one cool nephew. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Genevieve and Joseph Wieczorek.
Bill's hardworking nature, intelligence and empathetic nature took root in his upbringing in Hamtramck, Michigan. His parents were Polish and embodied the philosophy - work and love fiercely and, of course, EAT! His mother was an amazing cook and Bill matched her passion and love of cooking. He held multiple jobs from the age of 12 and worked continuously while completing high school across town at Cass Tech and then Walsh College of Accounting and Law for his undergraduate degree in accounting.
While working at a bank in Detroit, he met the love of his life and best friend, Maggie. Until his last breath, he maintained he landed the prettiest and funniest woman of all. He especially enjoyed doting on her as well as his two daughters, making sure the latter knew how to be strong and independent. When life got tough, his infamous candy runs at 7-11 cured all.
Bill's career spanned three decades as the International Finance Director at United Parcel Service. His work took him around the world where he formed many long lasting friendships from his days in Detroit, San Antonio, New Jersey, Omaha, Frankfurt, Germany, Columbus, and finally the Estero Country Club in Florida. There, they formed precious memories from golf cart parades to pig roasts to Olympic travels.
Bill will be forever remembered for his relaxed manner and quick wit - he brought humor and insight into every conversation. Whether discussing United Parcel Service, Michigan sports, his favorite comedians or gambling strategies, he always brought a lively and unique perspective. Sometimes this earned him a Facebook ban. As a true food connoisseur, he adored Swedish meatballs, Platzke's, oysters, and the perfect steak. And there was no greater beverage to complement them all than a glass of chardonnay.
Bill's favorite expression was "Everything will be OK, pal." We plan to honor that wisdom by celebrating his life with a party on November 8, 2025 in Florida. Details will follow via email and a Facebook post.
Bill will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
*In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you enjoy a good meal with the people you love, and if you're feeling bold-order the oysters.
