William Wray

Obituary William Joseph Wray Beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and uncle, William Joseph Wray, age 61, of Las Vegas NV,. passed away unexpectedly due to cardiac arrest, on Oct. 2, 2024. Bill was born to Bob and Gertrude Wray, of Moreland, ID., on Feb. 21, 1963, the 4th of 6 children. As a child, Bill worked alongside his family on their desert farm, moving pipe, putting up fence, clearing rock, working in the harvest, feeding cattle and anything else that needed to be done. He was highly intelligent and valued learning. He loved to read, play chess, and examine things under his microscope, and he loved music. He always had compassion for others and a sense of justice which helped lead him to his future career as an attorney. Bill graduated from Snake River High School in 1981 near the top of his class. Shortly thereafter, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Korea and New York City, opening the first Korean-speaking mission in the United States, chosen for his quick mastery of the Korean Language. It was there in New York City that he met and baptized Myung Sup" Kim", who would later become his beautiful eternal bride when they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 19, 1984. Bill aspired to higher learning graduating from Pace University with his undergraduate degree, followed by earning a Juris doctorate at St. John Law School in New York City. While they were in New York City their three lovely children were born, Joseph, Daniel, and Michelle. They later moved to Las Vegas, NV. to be closer to "home" and it became their home. Bill loved family, his immediate and extended. He cultivated his love of learning and music in his children and encouraged them to develop their talents. He was their biggest cheerleader, and he was never afraid to belt out a song, especially a rock hit from the 70's and he never needed lyrics. They were all perfectly memorized. He carried that encouragement on to the next generation, creating a safe and loving environment for his grandchildren. Bill and Kim made family a priority visiting them in Idaho and Korea often and welcoming them into their home. If you ever visited Bill, you were keenly aware of how generous he and Kim were. Kim would always provide abundant food, often homemade Korean dishes, and an immaculate room to stay in. Bill was a great entertainer, sharing humorous stories and laughing easily. They made you feel loved. Bill is survived by his wife, Kim, children Joseph and Shaela Wray, Daniel and Keri Wray, and Michelle Wray, and grandchildren, Kimberlynn, Axton, Brooklynn, Kailyn, Jet, Sadie, and Edyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Gertrude Wray, his son-in-law Taylor Grant and Kim's parents Bok Dol Kim and Hwa Soon Lee. Friends and Family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Moreland Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Moreland, ID.
