Wilson A. Smith, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024, at Hospice House in North Lima, OH. He was born February 28, 1936, in East Liverpool, the son of the late John E. and Mabel Lucille (Britain) Smith.
A 1954 graduate of East Liverpool High School, Wilson spent his entire life in the area. He was a dedicated individual who found fulfillment in his work as the Co-owner of Smith's Farm Supply. He took great pride in his role and contributed significantly to the success of the business over the years.
Wilson also enjoyed being part of the community by serving as Clerk of St. Clair Township from January 1964 through May 1994 and volunteered his time as treasurer of the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department where he was also an associate member. Wilson was a member of Northside Church in East Liverpool.
Outside of work, Wilson cherished simple pleasures. He found joy in riding his lawnmower, skillfully maneuvering it to ensure perfectly trimmed grass. He also enjoyed camping with family and friends.
Above all else, Wilson treasured time with his family. There love and support were paramount in his life. He was a loving husband to Mary Margaret (Frey) Smith, whom he married on August 23, 1957. They shred 64 beautiful years together until Mary Margaret's passing in December 2020.
Wilson is survived by his children: son, Scott (Missy) Smith and daughters, Suellen Hickman and Tracy (Larry) Rudibaugh. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Donovan (Dawn) Hickman, Eric (Dawn) Hickman, Kira Dunn, Brian (Tiffany) Rudibaugh, Jenny (Timmy) Pancake, Lance (Alicia) Smith and Cassie Smith as well as 14 great-grandchildren: Braxton and Britton Hickman, Taylor, A.J. and Samantha Hickman, Kristian Lantz, Peyton and Cael Dunn, Addison and Grady Rudibaugh, Kyla and Brody Pancake and Luca and Maci Smith. Wilson also leaves behind his siblings: Robert Smith, Dorothy Reynolds, and Marilyn Stambaugh.
Along with his parents and wife, Wilson was preceded in death by his siblings: Harry Smith, Warren Smith, Donna Jean McVay, Pauline Pickering and Betty Opiela.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 4 to 8 pm at the Martin Chapel of Care FUNERAL & Cremation Specialists, in Calcutta. The funeral will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11AM with Pastor Larry Rose officiating. Wilson will be laid to rest beside his wife at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
