W. Allen Blackburn (1950-2025)
Allen Blackburn, 75, of Clarkton NC, passed away on November 8th, 2025.
Allen was born in Bladen County and spent his childhood there. After graduation, he joined the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he went to work and had a successful career in Oklahoma then Georgia as a Distribution Manager.
He had a quick wit and big heart. He treasured the name Pops and the children that called him that. He enjoyed the outdoors, old cars, his jeeps and good ole fashion southern cooking. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Nancy. They traveled and enjoyed adventures whenever they could. From sunny rides on back roads to a cruise on the ocean, they were simply content to be together.
Allen, the last of the James Blackburn family, is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Nancy; son, Brian Blackburn; parents James and Louise Blackburn; sisters, Elizabeth (Libby) Priest, Sarah Baldwin Kaukola; brothers James H Blackburn, Willie Blackburn; nieces Cathy Bell, Vicky Baldwin; best friend John Daniel Lashley Jr and his beloved dog Freckles.
He is survived by his bonus daughter, Stacey Cauller (Court); grandchildren Nora and Izzy; "adopted" sister, Shirley Ward (Billy); nieces Christine Marlowe (Raymond), Amy Bailey (Sammy), Cheryl Batten (Glenn), LaVane Bullard, Anne King, Jean Farrow (Mike); nephews Charles Priest, Wade Blackburn(Jean) and Stanley Blackburn (Wendy); extended family Kendra Cremin, Shonda Johnson; caregiver Amber Benton, and many other close family friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 22nd in the Mount Zion Baptist Church, 9512 Red Hill Road, Clarkton, NC. Pastor Ed Wilkinson will be officiating.
