Zachary "Curtis" Herrera, 51 years of age, always put his wife and family first and had a dad's story or joke to tell that would bring a blush to your face every time. When Curtis entered heaven on August 23rd at 3:27 P.M., he was reunited with his loving mother, Marilyn. He was a strong man with a big heart, who never met a stranger. Curtis grew up in Wylie, Texas on Dogwood Street. He will be remembered as a great baseball and football star by his family and school mates. His family has so many stories to tell of his great plays and accomplishments. He made life-long friends in Wylie where he will always be fondly remembered. Curtis was an avid fan of sports, NASCAR, home makeover shows, and old war movies. He liked to play his guitar while singing along with Rodger Creager. He was a fan of all music from Van Halen to Pat Green. Curtis will be loved and missed by his wife of 28 years, Tammy. He has two children who will miss him very much; Morgan Herrera and her partner Austin Stanley, and Turner Herrera. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Herrera and survived by his devoted father Zachary Herrera; his sister Mindy Vogel; brother Jesse Herrera and his wife Mary Herrera. He is also survived by his in-laws Mark and Darlene Neuroth, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Amy Drew; brother- in-law and sister-in-law Brad and Tammy Hood; uncle Danny Beam; aunt Debbie Cole and husband Chuck Rick Bretton; aunt Cecilia Herrera; uncle Ray Herrera and aunt, Barbara Neuroth. He also has many nieces and nephews that will forever miss his humor. A celebration of his life is being planned and will published as soon as the plans are finalized. A lot of great memories of playing football and baseball back in HS. Curtis was a big reason why our 88 Baseball Team made it to the State Tourney that year. Although we have not seen each other in years, I look back often on our years as teammates and friends. You will be missed. Prayers to Tammy and the family. RIP my friend. As Coach Gent said, say hello to Coach Wilbanks and your amazing mom.
